NOTE: Personally, I would not consider Staples' ARC system to be compatible. I trialed ARC dividers in this & the mushroom holes were way too narrow to move properly on these discs.Conversely, if those dividers work nicely on ARC binding discs, then Talia (& Happy Planner) pages/dividers would come loose more easily because of the larger mushroom hole. That said, I chose Talia binding rings in part because of seeing feedback that these (& the more compatible brands) held the pages & dividers, etc. more securely/reliably than ARC's.I've been getting aquainted with my new coworker here for the last couple-few weeks. I purchased the large, 8 1/2 x 11 page size & the small, 1/2 page junior size fully expecting to keep the large one at home as "household coordination station", & carry the smaller one around with me everywhere (you know, portability & more discrete to use out in public.Instead I've found myself all-in with the larger sized notebook. Its been kind of fun figuring out how to meld my half dozen notebooks & separate planners into one spot... In a useful manner. This binding system allows me to use a single notebook consistently through the days in sync with my natural tenencies. Tendencies to use whichever notebook or notepad is handy, & mix up what goes into which constantly. Thid always turns attempts to "get organized" to mud & has always led to lots of partially used notebooks & frustration trying to use/find the information/planning needed. This sheds that problem & lends a semblance of calm & almost organized... with narry a self conscious moment whipping it out anywhere for any reason. It looks like an adult owns it & never clashes with my outfit or mood. So far it feels sturdy, stays solidly bound, & pages are easy to *intentionally* peel out & rebind. I love being able to move pages & "refile" things right there... Being able to pull out a list, use it, then either discard it or put it back in wherever it is most useful, as needed, & QUIETLY is a huuuuge win. I got an appropriate hole punch (different, very compatible brand) & LOVE being able to add any printouts, lists, notes from people, directions etc... Even sticking whatever is key on top of the closed cover. It stays on as well or better than a sticky note. Helps keep me focused when out running errands/appointments!I will probably be giving the junior size over to my husband - who really wants his own now, after seeing how I was able to unspiral/unbind pages from my old notebooks & planners & adapt them to this new system. He's decided one of the Juniors would change his life, after seeing me setting up & using this one.For my household/property/people management, elder care, diet/health data tracking, & creative work needs there is no way to bind many months worth of past or future pages into 1" of binding. The "currently being used" pages & a full calendar of months for planning/scheduling fill a binder up quickly. But, larger than 1" would become a massive brick. 1st thing, I removed the generous amount of notebook pages that came premounted. The bulk blanks are stored as any other paper stock & masters of my customized pages/lists/trackers are in page protectors in an old 3 ring binder. I got extra discs & mounted all the odds & ends of graph paper into one notebook, blank lined notebook paper from a drawer full of old partial spiral notebooks & random leftovers of ring binder paper (all trimmed tidy on paper cutter) I was really shocked that we are regaining square footage & office space from this. Each week/month I can set up & restock what is actually needs replaced as part of my planning/organizing process.Used, Past items/pages that need kept long-term are easily sorted & moved into designated less expensive disc binders. This saves space & keeps just what's CURRENT in front of my face. When I need to dig back to reference information or ideas, it can be found more easily flipping through these, versus digging through drop files or computer files. Without the same kind of wear & tear or noise of ring binders.Any pages or notes no longer important can be regularly culled & recycled. I am finding the ability to flip over a used note page & use the back in preferred orientation gets the paper thoroughly used up & file, into the recycling, or composted much more quickly (versus using one side of page after page in a spiral notebook, but not wanting to remove them until you use the other side.)This disc notebook is perfect. I love how durable the cover, disks, and dividers are. The planner stickers that came with it are also incredibly useful! Overall I am so pleased with my purchase, and when this one finally wears out I will be purchasing another from this brand! These are my absolute favorite discbound covers (I have every color)- but I’m worried that decreased availability means they’re discontinued. If the price were lower I could buy more.Did not realize that the my planner was coming with so much!! Well worth the price!! Will shop with in the future!!I am consistently fighting with the pleather cover to close it. Also, the primary reasons I chose this version was the leather and the pockets, - yet the large pocket won't even allow the paper to slide into it. A not very excusable fail. The cover also immediately picked up greasy fingerprints within the first few minutes using it. Almost $40 for a notebook.... it's not sitting very comfortably with me right now. And while the case was a bonus, I'm not sure what the purpose is since it has no strap to carry it with. Another miss. A strap or handle would have made it usable.Pro: sturdiness and professional look of the leather covers.Pro: that the arc punch works perfectly with this disc binder system. (not all punches are interchangable with all binders. With DIY punched pages, the stems don't always line up correctly, and sometimes the top or bottom of the pages don't match the pre-made refill pages you can purchase. But this works PERFECT with the ARC punch.)Pro: pages stay in place surprisingly well (this is my first disc bound notebook, and based on extensive research, it does what it promised!)Pro: came with a grey zipper protectant case, nice surprise. Kind of thin/cheap material, but still - it was a bonus I didn't expect so it was nice)Con: I didn't "love" the blank calendar pages (12 months/2 pages per month layout, stickers for the month/dates), but it may be just my personal preference. The dividers provided were nice, just not my favorite colors (no deal breaker). I made my own dividers by cutting the poly folders from dollar tree and punching w/arc punch. worked beautifully, and my dividers have pockets! There were several stickers, not the best I've ever seen, but not bad for a freebie/starter pack. Stickers can also be found at Dollar Tree and on sale at craft stores.Overall - I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this binder!! (I got the black leather / large size).I expected a hard cover, but it is not. Other then that it's great.I bought the Junior in mint green. The one I got has the black plastic strip where the rings clip in. I can't stop adding to it. I love it so much! I'm a very organized person and this notebook is the best! I bought extra dividers and upgraded to bigger rings. I want to go up even more now...2"...but I don't think Talia makes them that big. My daughter has a TUL and those rings fit. I like the Talia products more. They seem just as nice but they are cheaper. The Talia paper has a better layout. I don't like the way the TUL paper looks with the boxes at the top of the page. I like the simple look fo the Talia paper. The calendar pages are great! I like that it came with both an at-a-glance style yearly calendar and individual month pages too. The stickers are fun!The biggest difference I can see between my Talia and my daughters TUL is that the TUL has a pen holder. Not worth the extra money in my world. When I upgraded my rings, I found the replacement Talia rings were not as nice as the ones that were in the notebook originally. The silver metal rings on the original were fantastic...but too small for me.
