I was pretty surprised with all the different applications there are for the pen and paper, that there weren't any that I found to be very easy or fun to use. I still can't figure out how to use the handwriting to text feature. I mean it's not very easy to save your work once you convert it. Say you write your notes in a checklist sort of way where you have several inches in-between the words like this for exampleOrange juice from Market. $2.00Pasta sauce from Kroger $2.00It won't save it that way. It'll all be ran together when you go into the app to upload your work. Very annoying when editing because there's no way to edit and save for later either. At least I haven't figured it out. The note book is kinda cool but a tad smaller than I'dike it to be. The pen itself was very poorly designed. Or it's just not meant for females or anyone with smaller hands. It's odd shape is not very easy to hold st all. I do love the whole concept and I'm trying to adapt to it, from the pen the notebook to the app. I just want to love it so bad because I've been dreaming of the concept for years before it actually came out. I hope someone improves it the way I'd imagined it to be. My Rocketbook for now is taking center stage. Please improve the pen shape!! And the available apps! The pen alone is worth more than the package compared to other smart pens that function similarly so it’s worth the price for the pen alone.I LOVE the concept. I love the feel of the pen. The notebooks are perfect for a pen and pad addict. But for some reason the first two pages have transcribed, and everything else I've written in my notebook is missing in action. The Moleskine app won't even recognize my device. How much time can I feasibly spend on this before reaching the 'ridiculous,' and 'waste of money' point? I'll let you know. There are couple misinformation on the other reviews I like to clear up.1. The pen is neo smartpen with Moleskine branding on the pen, it still works with the Neo Smartpen notebooks.2. You don't have to buy exclusively moleskine smart notebook. You can buy the one from Neo. N professional mini has 200 pages with 80g/sq m paper, Moleskin has 176 with 100g/sq m paper. Moleskine does cost more but see #33. Smartpen company do want to make money off selling notebooks and special paper, but you can now print your own! Go to neosmartpen.com, look for the Ncode PDF at the bottom, there are 13 different types of format you can print with your own printer and everything still works. The only extra step is now you have to also download the app from Neo, which is really the same app.If you just want to capture what you've wrote and don't want to pay for notebook, printing your own Ncode sheets is pretty awesome. Remember to print actual size, any resizing or shrinking to margin will make the pen less likely to capture everything.Going back to this moleskine smart writing set. It works pretty well. Not 100% of everything is captured, I say pretty close to 95%. Occasionally missing a stroke in a letter, that flaw doesn't make this pen useless, it's just not perfect. So it's 4 stars. I'm pretty happy with this product.------------update-----------------After using it for a week, sometimes the pen fails to pick up anything, like less than 30%. I had to restart the pen, re-insert the ink, restart the app, then it goes back to the normal capture rate which is still not 100%. For that reason, revising to 3 star. It's great when it works. Works most of the time, but when it doesn't, you need waste a page writing "test, test, test"...until you restart the right thing for it to work again.I wanted to love this SO much. I am a writer who does their best work writing with pencil and paper. I bought this with the idea that it would translate my handwriting to text, saving me time typing and editing my work. Try as I might, I could get the flow to work in a way that would help me at all. The feel was nice enough, though I found the pen to be too fine. It didn't feel good in my hand. I also didn't love that the notebook is real paper that means you need to keep buying notebooks over time. Personally it seems like the technology I was seeking either doesn't exist yet or is outside my price range.Issues:1. Just lost 10 pages. Poof they're gone.2. No "normal" (8.5x11) notebooks available, only bizarre "journal" sizes.3. Bizarre rounded edges on pages that make it impossible to actually thumb through pages.4. When in use, the pen cap either covers the light or the button. Terrible design.5. Software constantly bombarding me to do a tutorial. And it constantly prompts me to rate it in an awful, low-budget, desperate way.Really regret wasting my money on this pen.2022-07-16 UpdateUpdating my review to add 2 stars. The pen is (for the time being) correctly downloading pen strokes, but I had to switch to a different Android device for this to work. Per item 4 above, when the pen cap is put on correctly, there is a peep hole to show the light through it which helps. Per item 5 above, there is a way to turn off being bombarded by tutorials, which improves the experience of using the app.2022-08-16 UpdateSince the pen lost several pages of data AGAIN I'm taking it down to 1 star and retiring the pen. Won't be buying anything from Moleskine from this point forward. I'd advise you to do the same.Infuriated...I waited to use it until I needed it and now have found that the pen doesn't work. It does not charge and it won't sync. Whatever I wrote in the book won't transfer because the pen won't charge even though the light turns on.This product does not work and Moleskine customer support is amongst the worst I have ever experienced.I don't like to write negative reviews but in this case I need to warn other potential customers of Moleskine that this is in no way up to their high standards. Not only does the Smart Pen not read writing, their customer support is exceptionally poor. After purchasing this Pen I tried it, it did not work at all. I went to online support and phone support who asked me to turn it off and on again a few times. This was not successful.I then said that I wanted to return it. No response. I asked again. No response. After 3 months of this I was fed up with being out of pocket for a notebook and pen with nothing smart about it and still received no response. After 6 months I received an email apologising for their lack of customer service and saying that they would replace the pen if I sent it back to them. After seeing other reviews it is clear that the product does not work and is not up to the high standards of Moleskine. It is meant to be a time saver but it costs a huge amount of time, money and now my loyalty to the Moleskine brand. This was a disappointment! having used a livescribe echo for a few years when it broke i decided to try this. However it can't connect with my PC, it isn't as flexible as the echo and when I tried the diary version it couldn't recognise many words, didn't allow for multiple days for one topic. All in all a relatively poor product and waste of money so it's back to the echo and write of the cost as a lesson learnt :-(Après avoir lu plusieurs remarques négatives à propos du stylo j’étais un peu sceptique concernant cet outil, néanmoins je me suis laissé tenter parce que l’outil est très bien noté par Pc magazine et autres sites spécialisés. Worked great for two months then stopped . Not getting any reaponse from moleskin support team. Totally disappointed.
